This paper illustrates, with the support of a real-world use case in the Healthcare industry, the algorithms and techniques of black-box testing of services and gray-box testing of distributed architectures that have been prototyped within the EU-funded MIDAS project and have been industrialized in the simplyTestify platform.

The SCA4SAUT notation for structural modeling, adopted by simplyTestify, is illustrated by an ETSI technical report

In April 2016, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) published the 'Technical Report ETSI TR 103 386 V1.1.1 (2016-04) - Methods for Testing and Specification (MTS); Deployment of Model-Based Automated Testing Infrastructure in a Cloud' [1] that proposes an overview of the approach taken within the EU-funded research project MIDAS to design, build and deploy an integrated framework for testing automation that will be available as a Test as a Service (TaaS) on a Cloud infrastructure.
In particular, the report describes the SCA4SAUT notation (sec. 6.6) that is used within simplyTestify for modeling the topology of the distributed service architecture under test and the configuration of the test harness.
